Copper electroculture antenna, electromagnet solenoid, 128C, 256C and 512C tuning forks, single-channel video installation with multichannel sound output system, audio amplifiers
Elegy of Resonance is an installation comprising sound devices synchronised with a video, where, instead of usual speakers, these sound devices capture audio signals from the video and simultaneously translate them into a sonic experience. The work explores the crisis of hybrid cultural identities in Asia, using hybrid but sterile flowers as metaphorical elements to invite speculation. Primarily, it examines the emotional and psychological of resonance in regions that have experienced socio-political upheavals and traumas in contemporary times.
In particular, tuning fork is employed as a symbolic apparatus with its instrumental properties, as primarily an instrument with resonance effect in collectiveness, a specific tool for artificial pollination in cross-species breeding and a therapeutic instrument that balance the internal energy in homeopath. …tuning forks to extract pollen, with video capturing this gesture as a symbol of the inability to reproduce. In therapy, tuning forks with different frequencies are used to attune one's internal energies, addressing the distress inherited from socio-political events and historical trauma. Additionally, each of the devices incorporates floral morphological features and electroculture properties, further juxtaposing cultural identities and fertility in both humans and flowers.
